Project Name: Processing, Packaging, and Marketing of Scented Rice

Area Covered: 8 villages in Bagicha Block, Dist- Jashpur


 

Challenges Addressed:

1. Inaccessible Villages

2. Awareness among Tribal Women about the project

3. Lack of knowledge and orientation among SHG members for suitable livelihood options

4. Lack of resources to adopt any livelihood activity

5. Lack of Financial Support


Solution Implemented:

1. Conducted awareness programs for tribal women regarding the LEDP project.

2. Detailed orientation about the project was provided to SHGs, assuring them of its potential to transform their economic and social lives.

3. Formation of 5 zones with 30 women each, providing training to 155 women from 14 SHGs in scented rice production, processing, packaging, and marketing.

4. Guided trainees to avail financial support from banks to start their livelihood activities.

- Marketing Ties:

- FPO Haritkranti Aadiwasi Sahakari Samiti Bagicha

- Agricone store – online marketplace (through Haritkranti FPO)

- Number of Units Set Up: 5 mini rice processing mills (1 for each zone)

- Income Enhancement: ₹25,000 - ₹30,000 (Annual) per SHG Member


Additional Impact:

1. SHG members gained complete knowledge about procurement, processing of paddy to rice, packaging, branding, and marketing.

2. Establishment of mini rice processing mills in respective zones ensured sustainable livelihood activities.

3. SHGs are regularly taking loans from banks, processing, packaging, branding, and marketing scented rice, earning profits, and repaying loans, ensuring sustainability.


This project has not only empowered SHG members economically but also provided them with the necessary skills and resources to sustain their livelihoods effectively.
