Health Camp in Kandora Village Benefits People with Support from NABFOUNDATION

READS, with support from NABFOUNDATION, held a health camp in Kandora village on October 26, 2024, benefiting over 90 villagers with medical care and essential medicines.

On October 26, 2024, the Rural Education and Development Society (READS) held a health camp in Kandora, a remote village in Manora Block. This health camp is a part of READS's ongoing "Kuposhan se Bachav Project," in collaboration with NABFOUNDATION Mumbai (an initiative of NABARD) that aims to leverage resources and support to combat malnutrition and provide essential healthcare in rural areas.

The health camp attracted over 90 villagers who received crucial medical consultations, including diagnoses for a range of ailments and health concerns prevalent in the community. Villagers received personalized care, and medicines were distributed free of charge to those in need. The medicines were tailored to address the specific health issues identified during check-ups, with a strong emphasis on preventing malnutrition-related health conditions.

Health professionals and volunteers at the camp educated villagers on preventative health practices and the importance of a balanced diet. They discussed accessible ways to improve nutrition and hygiene, which is particularly vital in rural settings where health resources are limited. The “Kuposhan se Bachav Project” by NABFOUNDATION specifically targets villages that are often overlooked in large-scale health programs. By offering such localized support, the project aims to fill gaps in healthcare access and address persistent malnutrition among vulnerable populations.

In an interview, a READS spokesperson commented, “Our mission through this camp and the ‘Kuposhan se Bachav Project’ is to address immediate healthcare needs while building awareness of long-term solutions to prevent malnutrition. We aim to empower rural communities like Kandora with the knowledge and resources needed to foster sustainable health.”

This health camp is one of many initiatives under NABFOUNDATION’s larger strategy to use convergence—the pooling of local and regional resources—to create impactful health programs in rural India. NABFOUNDATION representatives expressed their gratitude to the medical volunteers and READS for their collaborative work in reaching remote communities and ensuring they receive the medical care they need.

As more health camps and programs are planned, the impact of these partnerships in areas like Manora Block is expected to grow. Through the power of convergence, NABFOUNDATION and READS remain committed to addressing health disparities and providing critical care where it’s needed most.
