Overview

The JIVA Project implemented in Shankargarh-II block of Balrampur district, supported by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), aims to bring a positive behavioral change among farmers by shifting them from chemical-intensive agriculture to natural and indigenous seed-based farming systems. The project addresses critical challenges such as land degradation, climate change, biodiversity loss, declining productivity, rising input costs, and reduced net farm income. Under this initiative, farmers are adopting natural farming practices by preparing and applying bio-inputs like Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, and Ghana Jeevamrit using locally available resources, along with cow-based bio-pesticides to make their fields completely chemical-free. The project also promotes integrated multipurpose farming, including cattle rearing, goat farming, poultry, and fisheries, to enhance income diversification, improve soil fertility, strengthen food and nutritional security, and ensure sustainable agricultural development.
