Project overview

The project sanctioned by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) under the Tribal Development Fund aims to enhance sustainable livelihoods and socio-economic conditions of tribal communities in Jashpur district, Chhattisgarh. Implemented by Rural Education & Development Society, the initiative focuses on orchard-based farming and livestock development for 300 tribal families (including particularly vulnerable tribal groups) across 11 villages in Bagicha and Manora blocks over a five-year period.

Its core objective is to promote sustainable agriculture, improve income levels, strengthen food and livelihood security, restore ecological balance, and reduce dependence on chemical-intensive farming by encouraging natural and resource-efficient practices.

Project Motives

The project aims to improve the socio-economic condition of tribal households in Jashpur district, Chhattisgarh by creating sustainable livelihood opportunities through orchard development and livestock support. Implemented by Rural Education & Development Society with assistance from National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, its motive is to raise income levels, ensure food security, and reduce migration. The project also focuses on promoting eco-friendly farming, restoring soil fertility, conserving biodiversity, and strengthening community skills through training. Ultimately, it seeks to empower tribal families with self-reliance, resilience, and long-term livelihood stability while maintaining environmental balance and sustainable rural development.
