On 12th March 2025, the NABARD Rural Haat at Bipatpur village, Duldula Block, Jashpur district was inaugurated in a ceremonial event by Dr. Gyanendra Mani, Chief General Manager of NABARD. The occasion marked a significant milestone in promoting rural livelihoods and strengthening local markets for farmers and artisans.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the gracious presence of Shri M. Bada, DDM, NABARD Jashpur, and Shri D. R. Meena from NABARD's Regional Office, Raipur. Local leaders including the Sarpanch, Deputy Sarpanch, and a large number of villagers participated in the event, showcasing their enthusiasm and community support for the newly established rural haat.
The implementation of this Rural Haat has been facilitated by the development organization READS (Rural Education and Development Society), which has been actively involved in rural empowerment initiatives in the region. The haat is expected to serve as a platform for local farmers, self-help groups, and rural entrepreneurs to sell their agricultural produce, handmade goods, and other local products directly to consumers and buyers, thereby ensuring better prices and market access.
In his address, Dr. Gyanendra Mani highlighted the importance of rural haats in enhancing market linkages, reducing exploitation by middlemen, and promoting sustainable rural economies. The haat is not only a physical marketplace but also a symbol of rural self-reliance and economic development.
This initiative, under NABARD’s commitment to rural development, reflects a collaborative effort between financial institutions, implementation agencies, and local governance to build resilient rural infrastructure and strengthen community-based market systems.
