Introduction:

The Maina Laranga Watershed Development Fund (WDF) project, spearheaded by the Rural Education And Development Society (READS) and supported by NABARD, aims to promote sustainable livelihoods and uplift marginalized communities in the Maina Laranga region. This report on TDF-WDF Project provides an overview of the project's progress and activities as of 20th March 2024.


Project Overview:

The Maina Laranga WDF project focuses on watershed development and livelihood enhancement initiatives in the Maina Laranga area, catering specifically to 39 marginalized families belonging to the Pahadi Korwa community. Through the project, efforts are made to provide employment opportunities and support for sustainable agriculture practices to improve the socio-economic conditions of the beneficiaries.





Interventions Implemented:

- Watershed Development: The project initiated watershed management activities, including FB work, to enhance water conservation and soil health in the region.

- Livelihood Support: Regular employment opportunities were provided to the beneficiary families through activities related to watershed development. Additionally, the families were supplied with vegetable seeds and received regular training and guidance on cultivation practices.


Outcome and Impact:

The interventions implemented under the Maina Laranga WDF project have yielded positive outcomes:

- Livelihood Enhancement: Beneficiary families have gained access to regular employment opportunities, thereby improving their income levels and economic stability.

- Sustainable Agriculture: The provision of vegetable seeds and training in cultivation practices has enabled the beneficiaries to cultivate vegetables, contributing to food security and nutrition in the community.


Future Plans:

Moving forward, the project aims to further strengthen its interventions and expand its reach to additional marginalized families in the Maina Laranga region. Efforts will continue to focus on watershed management, livelihood enhancement, and sustainable agriculture practices to ensure long-term socio-economic development in the area.
