NABARD READS

In the serene village of Devsara, nestled amidst the verdant landscapes of Shankargarh tehsil in Balrampur district, Chhattisgarh, lived Megha – a woman whose resilience and entrepreneurial spirit transformed her community for the better.

Before the inception of the TDF-WDF project led by the Rural Education And Development Society (READS) and supported by NABARD, Megha eked out a living as a daily wage laborer, grappling with the uncertainties of rural life. However, destiny had a different plan in store for her.

Empowered by the intervention of READS' Devsara Jamhati WDF project, Megha embarked on a journey of entrepreneurship, setting up a small general store in her village. With her newfound venture, she brought essential goods closer to her community, ensuring access to necessities that were once scarce.

The impact of Megha's initiative was profound. With her store now a cornerstone of the village, residents had access to a wide range of goods, including ration and other essentials. No longer did they have to travel long distances to procure basic necessities, thanks to Megha's entrepreneurial spirit.

The success of Megha's general store was evident in the numbers. From December 2023 to March 2024, her business transactions amounted to an impressive Rs 52,315 – a testament to the vital role her venture played in meeting the needs of her community.

Megha's store not only provided economic opportunities but also fostered a sense of community cohesion and empowerment. Through her initiative, Megha became a beacon of hope in Devsara, showcasing the transformative power of grassroots entrepreneurship in uplifting rural livelihoods.

As Megha continues to serve her community through her thriving general store, she embodies the spirit of resilience and determination that defines the human spirit. Her journey serves as a reminder that even in the face of adversity, individuals like Megha can ignite positive change and create a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
