In the quaint village of Devsara, nestled amidst the tranquil landscapes of Shankargarh tehsil in Balrampur district, Chhattisgarh, resided Dinesh – a man whose life took a remarkable turn thanks to the TDF-WDF project initiated by Rural Education And Development Society (READS).
Before the project intervention, Dinesh eked out a living as a labourer, toiling tirelessly under the scorching sun to make ends meet. However, his fortunes changed when he became a beneficiary of the Devsara Jamhati WDF project.
Armed with the support provided by READS, Dinesh embarked on a journey of agricultural entrepreneurship. With inputs such as 2500 RM of farmyard manure, paddy seeds, and chilli seeds, he transformed a barren plot of land into a thriving farm.
Harnessing the power of inclusive development, Dinesh installed a solar pump under the project's guidance, ensuring efficient irrigation for his crops. Cultivating chillies on one acre of land and paddy on another, Dinesh witnessed a remarkable turnaround in his fortunes.
The fruits of his labour were not long in coming. From his chilli cultivation, Dinesh earned a substantial income of Rs 105,000, while his paddy harvest yielded Rs 276,000 – a significant boost to his household income.
Empowered by his newfound success, Dinesh made a bold move – he purchased a tractor, a symbol of his journey from labourer to landowner. With this acquisition, he not only streamlined his farming operations but also symbolized the indomitable spirit of rural entrepreneurship.
Dinesh's story stands as a testament to the transformative impact of grassroots development initiatives. From a humble labourer to a proud farmer and landowner, his journey embodies the ethos of resilience, determination, and the unwavering commitment to creating a better future for oneself and one's community.
