Story 1: Shyam Narayan

Transforming Barren Land into Prosperity

Shyam Narayan, a resident of Abhaypur village in the Tara post of Premnagar Tehsil, Surajpur district, struggled with financial difficulties due to limited education opportunities. However, his life took a positive turn when he joined the NABARD Wadi Development Program in 2022. By planting 25 mango and 30 guava trees on his one-acre barren land, and receiving a 5 HP solar pump for irrigation, Shyam successfully cultivated peanuts in the first year, earning Rs. 12,610. With gratitude towards NABARD and READS, Shyam continues to expand his farming ventures, now cultivating chili and wheat in addition to his earlier crops.



Story 2: Balmukund

From Adversity to Self-Reliance

Balmukund, a resident of Saluka village in the Tara post of Premnagar Tehsil, faced financial struggles despite having completed his education up to the 10th grade. Joining the NABARD Wadi Development Program in 2021 transformed his life. By planting 25 mango and 30 guava trees on his one-acre barren land, and engaging in intercropping with peanuts, Balmukund earned Rs. 10,200 in the first year. With earnings from the subsequent crops of sugarcane, followed by potatoes, and later sesame, Balmukund purchased a sewing machine for his daughter and deposited the remaining funds in his bank account. Today, he is successfully cultivating brinjal, chili, and tomatoes, extending his gratitude to NABARD and READS.



Story 3: Heera Lal Pavle

Empowering through Agriculture

Heera Lal Pavle, a resident of Abhaypur village in the Tara post of Premnagar Tehsil, Surajpur district, had limited educational opportunities and worked in agriculture and labor before joining the NABARD Wadi Development Program in 2022. By planting 25 mango and 30 guava trees on his barren land and utilizing the provided infrastructure for irrigation, Heera cultivated potatoes in the first year, earning Rs. 9,554. Subsequently, he ventured into lentils, followed by chickpeas, cauliflower, peas, and tomatoes, earning Rs. 31,510 in the second year. Heera is currently cultivating watermelons and bottle gourds in his orchard, expressing profound gratitude to NABARD and READS for their support and guidance.
